Future Female

On the 8th of March, we celebrate International Women’s Day. This is a global day for celebrating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women. The day also marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity. Every year has a different theme, provided by the UN. This year it is all about gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow, recognising the contribution of women and girls around the world leading the charge on climate change adaptation.

UN Women is also responsible for many other initiatives empowering girls and women like African Girls Can Code and the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence campaigns.

Most of the workforce in the tourism sector is women, many of whom have stepped up during the pandemic to become entrepreneurs and spread their wings. Others have shown much resilience in their pursuit to keep tourism afloat and now leads the road to recovery. We salute all of these amazing women, who inspire and encourage other females along the way!

Within our direct circles, we work closely with local supplier Mia Melange.  This company believes in empowering women and creating opportunities. They are passionate about their local community and strive to create jobs for previously unemployed women.   They teach their talented team members valuable skills, provide them with an ability to earn a decent income and empower them to be independent and able to support their families. As a female owned company ourselves, what fantastic partners and values to align with! See for yourselves: https://youtu.be/YKbnGOAf2bg

If I have to formulate a picture in my mind of the ideal future female  -  she would fearless, confident, innovative, pioneering,  supportive of other women, breaking all previously perceived boundaries and perceptions whilst still having a heart and mind to nurture herself and others.

May you flourish in the month of March! Until next time
